It’s summer! Fireworks! Or am I just thinking of those things because that’s what Japanese people associate with summer?
Big beautiful fireworks remind me of asking my crush out when I was still in school.
The festival atmosphere…the food stand odors…aaaah it takes me back!
Man… I wish I could go back! I want to eat cotton candy! Drink lemonade!
Episode 10 Little Ruru’s Big Dream
Ruru, the fairy phantom. Her one and only desire is to drink an entire bottle of lemonade at the summer festival. But she’s so tiny, she cannot fullfil that desire. That’s when she meets a witch phantom. Ruru hears that this witch phantom is going around granting various phantoms’ wishes, so Ruru asks her to make her big.
Ruru finally gets to be as big as all the humans around her, and enters Hosea Academy as a transfer student…
Highlights (spoiler warning!)
This episode’s theme is fireworks! Ruru gets excited seeing a flyer for a festival. She’s too cute!
When she gets stepped on by Haruhiko, Ruru decides she’s tired of being small. So, when she comes across a witch that can grant phantoms’ wishes, even though the whole thing is a little shady, she asks to become human-sized.
Her wish granted, Ruru enters Haruhiko’s class in the guise of a new transfer student, Ramune Natsuno.
Natsuno (Ruru) joins Haruhiko’s club after school, and gets herself invited to see the fireworks with everyone, under the premise of patrolling for phantoms.
Natsuno was so happy to be invited. Too cute!
Walking among the festival crowd, Natsuno and Haruhiko get separated from the group.
Natsuno’s feet start to hurt from walking around in the geta (Japanese wooden sandals), so Haruhiko stops to help her ease the pain. The conversation turns to the topic of Ruru, and Haruhiko gripes and grumbles about her for a bit.
But ultimately Haruhiko shows that despite all his complaints he cares for Ruru, and wants to buy her a lemonade.
But then, a firework phantom appears and the entire festival goes into a commotion.
Haruhiko and the gang try to battle the phantom, but it flies too high in the sky and they can’t get their hands on it. Haruhiko tries to seal it using his notebook, but gets picked up by the phantom and carried up into the sky.
In order to save Haruhiko, Ruru reveals her real identity to the gang, causing her to become her normal small self again. She flies to the phantom firework and talks it down.
She convinces the phantom to fly high into the sky so as not to cause damage to everyone below.
The phantom releases Haruhiko, and flies high into the sky along with Ruru.
The phantom goes out in a massive explosion in the night sky, and everyone is distraught because Ruru was caught up in it.
However, Ruru suddenly appears again, safe and sound. Everyone ends up enjoying the fireworks show together.
This tenth episode was all about Ruru. It was a fantastic episode, wasn’t it?
Her pulling Haruhiko’s sleeve, stepping on his finger, all her little actions are just so cute. I watched this episode over and over again, lol.
Personally, I love the scene with Haruhiko treating Ruru’s aching feet.
Haruhiko’s complaints about Ruru… I guess that’s what he really feels, but ultimately he wanted to buy her the lemonade, and you can tell he cares about her, so I was really happy.
Then, the scene where Natsuno gets offered a lemonade and she turns it down, saying “I’ll get one later.”
I think ultimately she wanted to drink the lemonade as Ruru, not as Natsuno. That kind of purity is also really cute.
I don’t suppose Ruru will ever come visit my house, will she? …
So, how did all you Ruru fans out there like this super exciting tenth episode?
