Episode 4: Explosion Magic for This Formidable Enemy!
“An executive member of the Demon King Army was extremely absolutely furious”
Because one of the Demon King Army officers settles near the town in which Kazuma currently lives, all the weak monsters seem to go hiding. It means that Kazuma and his party have much less opportunities to upgrade their skills. They are stumped.
Since he has nothing better to do, he hangs out with Megumin who sets up a special training on her explosive fire magic at a deserted castle.
Rain or shine, she doesn’t miss a day to horn up her magic skill. One day, the town’s guild blasts out an urgent request. A figure shows up at the front entrance of the town. It is the executive member of the Demon King Army, named headless knight Dullahan. He bellows in rage.
“EVERY…SINGLE…DAY…FRIGGING EVERY SINGLE DAY… DAMN IT! WHO IS THE STUPID DAMBASS THAT SMASHES MY CASTLE WITH THE FLAMING MAGIC EVERY DAY!”

Review (spoiler alert)
It appears that the cabbages they have caught in the previous episode earned some nice cash, with which they bought Darkness and Megumin brand-new equipment.
On the other hand, Aqua had not only emptied her wallet, but went further to drink on the borrowed money at the bar, expecting to get handsome rewards from what she had caught from the previous quest. Despite her assumption, her catch was, unfortunately, lettuce, which brings her a much smaller amount of cash than cabbages do.
Aqua turns to Kazuma who has made a small fortune thanks to the cabbages; she borrows Kazuma’s money to pay off her bar tab, um, more like, she threatens him to lend her some gold, using an embarrassing secret that he dares not to announce to the public.
After all, Kazuma and the members bought themselves new equipment and got ready for more quests. They search for manageable quests but they find that job requests are scarce… due to the fact that one of the top leaders of the Demon King Army moved in to the town, and because of that, all the weak monsters went hide themselves, leading to the shortage of quests.
Because the job market has dried up, Kazuma and his party have too much free time.
Megumin decided to spend her free time to practice magic. She found an abundant castle that obviously no one lives in. On a fine day, rainy day, snowy day, every day, she keeps throwing her explosive fire magic targeting at that castle on a cliff.
One day, the town’s guild announces an urgent job request, open to whoever takes it.
A figure that shows up at the front gate of the city is the headless knight, an executive member of the Demon King Army, Dullahan. He bellows in rage to the crowd, saying that he is seeking the moron who throws fire magic at his castle day after day.
Megumin steps forward, determined to confront. Dullahan got even more livid, and orders Megumin to stop firing her explosive magic at the castle.
Megumin, on the other hand, rejects his request to stop. Dullahan immediately announces her death, but, out of the blue, Darkness shots out from the side and receives the curse of death in place of Megumin. Darkness is now cursed to die after one week from now. In order to save her life, Kazuma and Megumin decided to go to Dullahan’s castle. Right after that, Aqua comes in and lifts the curse off of Darkness like it was nothing.
Oh I laughed so much, especially, the interactions between Dullahan and Darkness, it’s priceless LOL
Even when Dullahan is mad, he’s seriously funny! I think it’s the great performance by the voice actor.
Come to think of it though, what an annoyance. Imagine you get your own castle blast off every single day, ever since you moved in? No wonder he gets frustrated a bit, right?
No matter how much rage he’s got, the headless knight Dullahan seems to have lost his words in front of the masochist Darkness. Her victim fantasy was, oh my gosh, crazy. The voice actor who plays Darkness also plays Menma in Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. Don’t you think two roles are completely different?!
This episode’s story board seems to be provided by ARAN SUMISHI. Check out Twitter.
So now to the next espisode… I wonder what Dullahan is going to do next, once he knows his curse is purged. Let’s look for next round!
