‘ERASED: Boku Dake ga Inai Machi’. I was drawn into this anime right from the beginning!
The interesting part of this anime is that its scenarios are pretty straight forward. The flow of mystery followed by more mysteries really make me pulsate with excitement. In the first episode, three mysteries were being introduced.
Summary of Episode 1
Fujinuma Satoru. 29 years old.
As a result of using his ability ‘Revival’, Sataru got involved in a car accident.
Luckily he didn’t really get hurt and Sachiko Fujinuma, Satoru’s mother, decided to move in with Satoru out of worry. While both of them were on their way home from the supermarket, his ability activated again. This time, he was able to go home safely. Though after he got home, he was suddenly told by Sachiko that there was an attempted kidnapping incident in front of the supermarket.
Later when he got home from work, he saw something unbelievable.
There are three highlights that I want to talk about in this episode.
The ‘Revival’ Phenomenon is a phenomenon that happened to Satoru which enables him to go back to the past for a period around one to five minutes. This phenomenon allows him to perform life-saving feats. Right at the beginning of the anime, Satoru was sporadically sent to the past by this phenomenon to save a kid who was almost being hit by a runaway truck.
The reason to why only Satoru experiences this phenomenon remains a mystery.
What happened in the kidnapping incident 18 years ago?
The center of the kidnapping incident 18 years ago is Satoru himself, yet he has no memory about the incident. What happened during that incident is a mystery.
Who is the murderer of Satoru’s mother?
Satoru’s mother somehow deduced the true killer of the incident 18 years ago. However, right after she figured out the murderer, she was killed by a mysterious person (possibly the true murderer of the incident?). After Satoru got home and saw his collapsed mother, he panicked and ran away. He lost his conscious after that and when he woke up, his realized that his ability have sent him back to 18 years ago, when he was still an 11 year old fith grade student.
Will Satoru be able to face his past in order to change the future? I am really looking forward to the future episodes. I think this anime is the best of this winter season and I really recommend everyone to check it out.
