Looser appears before Kyoma on the way to Ground Zero.
Today’s chapter gathers up many of the series’s various mysteries! It’s an unusually dense episode.
With that in mind, let’s look at the highlights from episode 9.
Episode #9 Rundown
The Key To Adrastea
Looser and Kyoma meet on the way to Ground Zero.
The mysterious black orb appears in front of them once again. Kyoma comes into contact with the orb and passes out.
In Kyoma and Salva’s complicated memories, we learn about everything from the coup d’etat in Isra to the invasion of Easter Island.
In the confusing background we see Prof. Shido Yurizaki’s pupil, Seameyer, and Looser.
Today’s highlights are Kyoma’s memories, Salva’s memories, Looser’s true identity, and the inching toward a revelation of the truth behind Mira.
The mysterious black orb appears once again in front of Kyoma and Looser. Kyoma is absorbed by the orb and loses consciousness.
When he reawakens, he finds himself in his memories from five years ago. His recollection of the dramatic events that took place at that time slowly start to return to him.
Five years ago, Prof. Yurizaki’s right-hand man, Haruka Seameyer, upset with the treatment of the professor and all coil scientists, attempted a revolt.
New Tesla’s special ops unit, Grendel, and the scientists scramble around for the key to this revolt. Before embarking on the mission to the research facility at Easter Island, Kyoma visits the rapidly weakening Miyabi. There, he finally realizes that what he is experiencing is, in fact, his own forgotten memories.
Like Kyoma, Salva has been taken five years back into his memories by the black sphere. Through Salva’s memories, we learn about why Ruwai’s body is largely prosthetic.
Five years ago, Salva was put in charge of suppressing a coup d’etat initiated by groups fighting for the deregulation of coils. Having won the battle and stopped the coup, Salva is making his way back to the castle when a sniper attempts to assassinate him. Salva orders his artillery to take out the sniper, but as he issues the order he sees Ruwai running down a flight of stairs, right where the sniper is standing. Ruwai gets caught in the barrage intended for the sniper.
Salva’s dream was to use Isra as his stepping stone to conquer the world. Salva initially considered Ruwai a pawn in his quest, but as his younger brother approaches death’s door, Salva realizes that he about to lose something much more important to him than he had thought.
Looser’s True Identity
Looser’s true identity turns out to be that of Julian, a researcher working at New Tesla. Julian was engaged to Sofia, a fellow researcher.
The girl we saw from behind in Looser’s flashback in the previous episode was this Sofia.
Julian comes up against Seameyer and his followers at Adrastea, the research facility. There, Seameyer locks Julian inside a laboratory.
Returning from memories to the live action, Looser arrives at Ground Zero in Adrastea. Opening up the giant door to the research facility, he finds nothing but a pitch-black empty space.
What Is The Black Orb?
The black orb turns out to be the collection of all memories from the moment the universe began.
As Kyoma, inside the memories themselves, begins to realize this, he meets Seameyer. Seameyer is searching for the key that will connect dimension W to the physical universe, and he apparently believes that key is to be found in Kyoma’s memories.
That means that Kyoma was the one the sphere was searching for all along.
The Truth Behind Mira
In this episode, we also learned the truth about Mira’s body.
Mira’s body was initially constructed for Miyabi. This explains why they can seem somewhat similar, and maybe also why Kyoma refers to Mira as a “piece of junk.”
He doesn’t want to be reminded of Miyabi.
What do you think?
This episode started to tie up a lot of loose ends and head toward a climax, didn’t it? Our view of the Dimension W world has suddenly become a lot more vast, but we still haven’t really reached the core of what took place five years ago. Will that be revealed in the next episode? Here’s hoping!
