KONICHIWA! Emi here. The first episode left us with many mysteries to be solved. What is Oubu? What is Bubuki? In this subsequent episode, the story slowly starts to unfold. Let me introduce you to the many highlights I found in this episode!
Synopsis of the second episode
Oubu turned out to be nothing but dry bones… Azuma stared at it, shocked and speechless. After having successfully diverted Matobai’s pursue, Hiiragi and Kogane joined with Azuma.
Believing that this is a chance of a lifetime, Hiiragi demands Azuma to hand over the crucial artifact, the ‘Heart Bubuki’, which she needs in order to revive the Oubu. Astounding Azuma claimed that he doesn’t own such a thing, resulting to aggravate Hiiragi. Is Azuma telling the truth, or is he hiding the Heart Bubuki…? Hiiragi decides to test it; if the Heart Bubuki is indeed with Azuma, then the Bubuki should automatically react to its host’s danger. With Iwatooshi in her hands, Hiiragi launches an attack on Azuma!
The first appearance of Azuma’s Heart Bubuki
Bubuki is a weapon with its own mind and it is used by Bubuki users. Unbeknownst to himself, Azuma has inherited his Heart Bubuki from his mother, Migiwa. He succeeds in reviving the Heart Bubuki. Other members turn out to be Bubuki users, too – Kogane is right hand, Hiiragi is left leg, Kinoa is left hand, Shizuru, right leg… All five individuals, including Azuma himself, possess their own versions of Bubuki, which corresponds to respective body parts. What does this mean?
Revival of Oubu
The best and biggest highlight in this episode is the scene where Oubu – the mysterious Buranki – is revived. Before the resurgence, it was merely a bunch of bones simply lying on the ground. This time, as Azuma had the Oubu’s heart revived, Oubu’s soul awaken; it drew in the rest of Bubuki, which assembled into a wholesome and complete Oubu form.
Here, one of the mysteries was solved. Oubu is not just one element, it comprises of multiple components, Bubuki. I have been personally itched to know exactly how the Oubu is controlled, and I found the answer in this episode. Oubu was operated by five Bubuki users who respectively represent the body parts. It is a unique approach in a robot animation genre to employ such a cooperative play style.
All things considered, this show is highly entertaining! I’m already looking forward to seeing the next episode!
