This episode picks up with Seigi and the Wiseman delving into BB’s past. As the episode jumps into Blood’s past endeavors, we see where he first joins the Brahmin forces for Princess Aryabhata against the Kingdom. He wins the Princess’s favor after he matches evenly against Cal in a fight and is rewarded with the Void Maker Tattoo. Aryahbata says that the Kingdom’s specialized match test results made him the ideal suitor for the tattoo. BB is relieved to get into the Brahmins because the kingdom is the only possible chance he has of discovering how to destroy the tattoos. Upon his joining, Blood meets Varma, who has also just been accepted into the Brahmin and is rumored to be the King’s lover.
Blood is shown to Cal’s practice hall where Cal informs him that he has free access to wherever he wants in the castle, except for Samsara. Blood immediately plots to break into Samsara, alongside of Varma , who is working as a spy for the King. As both men attempt to break into Samsara, they are attacked by its guardian, Ganesha, a Brahmin girl with her eyes sown shut. The two are quickly defeated and kicked out of Samsara’s territory.
Later, Blood is given his first mission with Cal. The two are to travel to the first ruins and kill any threats. Blood refuses to kill attacking American soldiers, saying that they can instead take them as prisoners. He believes that denying anyone the right to justice via revenge is evil and he will not take that from them. Cal merely scoffs at Blood and kills all remaining witnesses to his dismay.
Exactly one year later, Princess Aryabhata makes known her plans to usurp the King. Blood realizes that he absolutely must break into Samsara to bring back any incriminating evidence to the King. He and Varma prepare to face Ganesha once more. This time, BB realizes that Ganesha has been using tree leaves as her trigger and stops her from accessing any. As soon as he prevents her from her trigger, he and Varma are able to defeat her quickly.
Now that Ganesha is defeated, the pair race into Samsara and bust through the castle wall and into a bizarre playroom. They are greeted by Kujuli, who introduces herself as Princess Aryabhata’s sister. She then points to two other sisters, Fima and Kashinika. Kujuli explains that they are in the lowest level of Samsara and this is where she and her sisters live and were created. According to Kujuli, none of the girls in Samsara are clones. They are more like sisters that have all been created by the King in order to access the tattoo user interface, which is on a dimensional field that only they can reach. Of all the hundreds of sisters, Aryabhata has the most human-like shaped interface, making her the most perfect creation, and thus the “Princess.”
35 years ago when the tattoo ruins were first discovered by the King, in order to create Aryabhata and her sisters, the King conducted thousands of sick and twisted experiments. He tortured over 3000 innocent people, stealing sperm and forcefully impregnating women to get tattoo interface user potentials within Aryabhata and her sisters. The King wished to rewrite the world according to himself, regardless of the cost. Princess Aryhabta discovered her origins and resolved to overthrow him herself and rewrite the world to get rid of monsters like her father. However, some sisters like Kujuli are opposed to the Princess. Kujuli claims that to erase humanity is to deny herself and her sisters of the fact that they too, are human beings. Kujuli reminds Blood that her hopes lie within the Princess as well.
Soon after the boys arrival, they are discovered. After BB has the incriminating data downloaded of the Princess’s plans, he and Varma hightail it for the exit. Upon their escape, Varma is killed. BB takes his body to the King to prove a point about taking his power hunger too far, costing him his lover. The King is resolved to be killed by the Princess, but not before he defends his country. He shows Blood to an underground railway where Blood makes his escape and the episode is concluded.
Justice- Blood talks about the American soldiers at the ruins he and Cal defends. He claims they have a right to someday return to seek revenge against him. To deny them of their own sense of justice is what he calls evil. Cal however, believes no such thing and kills all of them. Cal made a safe decision, but not before infuriating Blood.
Sexuality- Blood walks in on Cal changing in her practice hall, making an awkward first impression as a Brahmin. The King and Varman are a pair of jaded lovers. Cal imagines the Princess fooling around with her maids while she’s out on patrol.
I can see why this episode was needed in order to explain the Princess’s whereabouts. A lot happened this week and we see a good bit about why Blood was a traitor to America. He needed a way to destroy the tattoo, as he promised Izzy and himself for the sake of humankind. I also enjoyed seeing Ilutmish make her first appearance onto team Brahmin. Even back then she is cute and a bit slow. The episode overall was a bit more twisted then I imagined possible for this series. The massive amount of “sisters” was not the direction I imagined this series going in. I am hoping this series will continue to keep me on my toes.
