I’m yukipapapa, the writer, hi, everyone. The show is now in ninth episode, and finally, it starts shifting the focus to Deku’s school life. You know, not super intense conflict or superhuman skills and all that, rather, this show starts incorporating more normal school day stuff. A moment of relief. That said, in the latter half of the show, Deku and his classmates receive a surprise attack from a pack of villains, while All Might is down. It’s gonna be bad. Real bad. This show never stops to hook us in, doesn’t it? Alright, let’s look at this episode.
Highlight 1 Chillin’ with Classmates
So far the show’s focus has been on materials that help illustrate the key characters’ incredulous skills. Today’s episode reminds us that this show is actually a school drama. It’s about friendship, relationships, getting to know each other, stuff that normal kids go through as they grow up. The story offers ample of comforting moments, like Deku getting more cozy with his classmates.
To begin with, let’s look at the class president voting event. It happens so that Deku’s class members decide to pick someone for the class president, or class rep, if you will. While almost all the classmates nominate themselves, Iida-kun suggests a different approach. He asks the class to be more democratic and motions to hold an election. Why yes, while pitching for his proposal, he nominates himself, ends up getting a huge booing from the rest of the class. Haha! Deku’s classmates are loud and fan.
Next up is Bakugou. Deku can’t believe his eyes, as he watches his classmates tease Bakugou. It happens during the bus transportation to the off-site campus for the special rescue training.
Some of the classmates start to playfully mock him saying he’s got the worst temper they’ve ever seen. Kaminari-kun disses “Bakugou and says that he stinks like a crap steeped in sewage.” Off course Bakugou pisses off and fires back! LOL Deku seems to be shocked, but, everybody is on even terms.
Young and foolish exchange is hilarious, providing a good comic relief.
Highlight 2: Go Iida-kun!
Iida-kun confesses that he is the second son of a notable hero family, and he deeply aspires his elder brother, working as a professional hero, who is known for honoring rules and ethics. Iida-kun has been inspired by Deku’s performance and came to believe that Deku is better suited to lead the class. Even though he wanted to perform the class president, he steps back, and votes for Deku. A noble guy, isn’t he?
When the school security alarm goes off, all those in the cafeteria panic. Seeing an eminent danger, Iida-kun jumps to action faster than everybody else, and calms down the panicked mob. He’s a guy of action, and that’s so hot.
Iida-kun’s performance convinced me that he is not just one of the sub characters, he is a key person material.
Highlight 3: Villains’ Surprise Attack at Rescue Training!
Villains appeared from time to time in the past, as a hoodlum or that sort of community nuisance. This time, though, the group of villains that appears at the US High School’s training ground is completely different in its scale and objectives. They somehow enter the school premises, what a reckless move.
What are they planning to do with only a handful of professional heroes and the juniors? The villains are obviously here to battle. A malicious intent is rampant. A serious battle awaits us, folks! Isn’t it fun!
Highlight 4: Weakening All Might
All Might notices change in his ability. In the first episode, he rescued Deku and Bakugou from a villain, the impact from the incident caused his on-duty time to become shorter and shorter as the day goes by.
Today he is requested to attend the special rescue training at UA offsite ground, but, during the commute, he spends unexpected minutes helping people in town. In the end, he ran short of stamina and he needs to continue his teaching activity at UA.
Dark malicious shadows start shifting restlessly in and around the town, while All Might feels increasingly weak. Deku still needs to work on his power control. Things are shaky. All Might’s next step makes a significant impact on the future of the hero vs villains world.
A waning super star… awakening young bud… let’s keep our eyes on the two heroes’ next moves!
