It’s time for the summer break, and Hane and the other club members are planning a bike trip to Hokkaido.
Except for Raimu (and Butler Hayakawa who practically rides the motorbike for Hijiri), the club members gained their licenses only a few months ago. They are basically beginners, but they ride so aggressively.
Rin is the one who suggests to travel around Hokkaido. The reason for this is because she and her father travelled there when she was little.
Rin was sitting at the back of her father, when he slipped and fell off the motorbike. Her father got a parasite infection from an Ezo red fox when it licked his face.
So, he needed to have an operation, and Rin had to go home alone crying all the way.
It seems like Rin’s father always faces a death every time he gets mentioned, and he sounds like a good-for-nothing bum.
Anyway, on the day of the trip…they face trouble after trouble from the beginning.
Originally, they are to catch the ferry from Port Ooarai in Ibaraki, which is like a sacred place for high school motorbike riders, to get to Tomakomai in Hokkaido. However, Rin makes a critical mistake and they miss a ferry.
On top of that, Raimu manages to jump onto the ferry alone, and Hijiri and Butler Hayakawa try to copy what Raimu does but fails.
As a result of this, Hijiri and Butler Hayakawa are flying a helicopter to Hokkaido.
The three of them who got left behind choose to ride all the way up to Aomori, where they can catch a Seikan ferry to Hokkaido.
They ride all night long, but Hane falls behind and is even close to running out of gas.
She sees someone pushing a motorbike along the road, so she pulls over to talk to this person.
The person is wrapped around in a big cloth, wearing a helmet with a pattern of thorns. He even has a halo above his head and the motorbike is a Suzuki INTRUDER. He is totally suspicious.
Pure-hearted Hane shares her precious gas to his motorbike, which is already out of gas.
They safely get to a gas station. There he tells Hane what a motorbike is for God.
He shows an art piece by Raffaello called ‘Ezekiel’s Vision’.
In this drawing, God is on ‘a vehicle with wheels’ and the recent research reveals that this vehicle is actually a motorbike, according to this mysterious man.
I laughed so much watching this scene, where the actual masterpiece is altered and falsified without any hesitation.
According to Hane, this person is ‘just like Onsa, who beats around the bush’. In return for her kindness, he gives her ‘the cup of immortality’.
Then, she wakes up in a sightseeing spot called ‘the Grave of Christ’ in Herai Village (now Shingo Village), Aomori.
We know that this anime has a mysterious being like Raimu, but it’s still so hilarious that anything could really happen in this anime.
Hane manages to join Onsa and Rin at Port of Aomori, and they catch the ferry to Hokkaido.
In Hakodate, they meet Hijiri and Butler Hayakawa. They all head to the Hakodate’s famous hot spring, Mizunashi-Kaihin Onsen the next morning…except for Raimu who’s left alone in Tomakomai.
This open-air hot spring is directly connected to the ocean, and it is very unique that you soak into the hot spring with seawater.
There is no privacy, nothing to block the view from outside, so Onsa and Rin hesitate to get naked for the hot spring. Raimu, on the other hand, has no time to wait. She gets there in hurry on her motorbike, gets naked and jumps into the hot spring straight away.
Hane and Hijiri follow this, and Onsa and Rin finally make up their mind to undress for the hot spring.
In the hot spring, everyone sees a brand of the ‘Suzuki’ emblem on Rin’s butt. Then, they find out that that brand is given to Rin because of her father’s silly behavior.
Honestly, every time her father gets mentioned, Rin’s childhood memories appear to be messed up getting worse and worse. Would Rin really improve the relationship with her father?
Furthermore, we all notice Butler Hayakawa is also soaking in the hot spring right next to where the girls’ are.
Well…apparently this is a co-ed hot spring…
The funny thing is that Onsa and Rin are so conscious about being naked in public, but they don’t say anything to Butler Hayakawa. I wonder what this man is to these girls…
As a mid-aged man but Hijiri’s butler, he gets to go on a motorbike trip and see naked high school girls this close. However, quite possibly, he doesn’t ever act dirty or guiltily and has nothing to be ashamed of, so the girls don’t feel like blaming him or getting upset with him…(maybe?)
Butler Hayakawa looks fondly at the high school girls playing around naked with girly laughter. He says, ‘my last duty will be to have you get a motorbike license.’
As Hijiri rides in a sidecar during the opening theme song, I wonder if she will ever ride a motorbike by herself.
Describing his life as a cherished DUCATI, Butler Hayakawa says, ‘I’ll be done with my life when this motorbike breaks down’. However, it just happens to break down on the way home from the hot spring.
He has the new DUCATI delivered by a helicopter, and he adds ‘DUCATI never breaks down’.
This is possibly a parody of a well-known urban legend about Rolls Royce. This DUCATI is already the fourth since the beginning, and now we are only in Episode 4. According to Onsa, this DUCATI 750SS Imola Replica is very rare…how many of these does Hijiri’s family own?
This is a very fast-moving episode full of exciting conversations and crazy jokes.
I love it a lot and this is my favorite so far.
They even mention the actual sightseeing spot, and I feel like visiting there thanks to this anime.
The next episode is called ‘Touring!!’
Can we see all six riding on their motorbikes on the everlasting Hokkaido roads?
