初めての… お給料… (Hajimete no… Okyuuryou…)
Hello, everyone. This is yukipapapa!
The fourth episode of NEW GAME!
This time we saw Kou-san and Rin-san’s intimate relationship, and some kind of a sensor for people who like lilies.
We also heard a very famous phrase that became an internet meme in Japan!
1. The intimate relationship of Kou-san and Rin-san that somehow makes you delusional!?
The character team’s leader Kou Yagami and art director Rin Tooyama are Aoba’s bosses.
They both have shown us that they are great bosses, training Aoba well.
This episode tells us a bit more about Kou and Rin’s intimate relationship.
It’s midnight at the office and when nobody else is around, Rin-san unburdens herself to Kou-san: she tells her how being an AD is a burden for her, how it makes her feel butterflies in her stomach, and how she believes Kou would have made a better AD because she is the one responsible for the personality of the game.
Kou-san encourages Rin-san by saying that she gets to focus on her work because of Rin’s management as AD. She also tells her that she isn’t sure if other people would follow her because of her personality; Kou-san shows signs of self-doubt.
It is clear that they’re not just good friends, but they also trust each other a lot as job partners.
Meanwhile, early in the next morning, Aoba witnesses the two toppling each other in their underwear!
This was a great fan-service scene!!
When the group get their paycheck, Rin-san gets mad at Kou-san because she didn’t remember how she spent her first paycheck: “You don’t remember?! We had a day trip to a hot spring together!”
This is definitely something that a girl would have said to her boyfriend, isn’t it?
I’m so excited to see how the series will treat their relationship from now on!
2. Is she an old man with a cute face!? The unexpected side of Aoba-chan!
Aoba-chan joined this company right after she graduated from high school. She is 18 years old; very young compared to the other employees.
One early morning, this young and seemingly unspoiled employee, says to herself:
I’m gonna get some work done ‘zoi’! (English sub is translated as ‘donezo’)
She says ‘zoi’!? Was she born in Showa!?
The phrase stinks like an old man. Aoba doesn’t sound like someone who just graduated high school, at all!
This major gap between her old man-like phrase and her cute face puzzled the internet.
Moreover, when she receives her first salary statement, she talks about swinging from joy to sorrow depending on the weight of the salary envelope. This way of determining your salary refers to cash-income days in the Showa era. Her boss, Rin-san draws away from her.
Her old man-ish attitude is an enigma. But it makes her even more attractive and mysterious!
I can’t wait for the next episode!
