The series seems to finally be wrapping up in these final episodes. We have moved past the dirty secrets that were revealed about WIXOSS. Now we see the end game unfold.
Japanese Title: 捕食 / 悲劇と喜劇
The episode begins with Suzuko checking in on Hanna every so often. Hanna has taken to secluding herself in her room where she suffers a form of PTSD, induced after she won WIXOSS and discovered the truth about her younger brother’s death being her own fault. Or at least she thinks so. I feel that if WIXOSS has the power to manipulate memories, they also have the ability to alter memories so that selectors suffer when they win. Since WIXOSS is perpetuated by misery and despair, it would make a sensible hypothesis.

Chinatsu is also figuring out how tragic the battles actually are. Last week she watched an LRIG selector kill themself, and this week she’s beginning to face her doubts. Shou is still trying to win over Chinatsu’s cold heart. He takes her to their school to reminisce a bit. However, when they get there we see how WIXOSS is truly affecting selectors who lose coins. Shou begins to talk about his old soccer days and how he plans to rejoin, completely forgetting that he suffers a permanent injury that will stop him from playing ever again. While this exchange is taking place, Satomi has sent his two henchmen to spy on the two kids, reveling in the tragic comedy.
While Satomi is watching both Chinatsu and Shou, he gets a call from Rio, who has only one coin left. Satomi decides to help her out by setting a match between himself and Shou. Satomi says if Shou can win, then he will release Chinatsu and Shou from their binding contract. He beats Shou, leaving him with also one coin. Satomi then pits Rio and Shou against each other and invites Chinatsu out to watch, to her horror. Shou of course, being the valiant guy that he is, lets Rio win, unable to take away the life of a young girl.
Kiyoi, who sees everything going on, vows to stop Satomi. She finds him as he is in the middle of the battle that he has set up between Rio and Shou. They commence battling and Kiyoi uses her coin bet ability, ‘Peeping’ to look into Satomi’s heart. However, both Kiyoi and her LRIG, Piru are taken aback as all they find in Satomi’s heart evil and darkness. Satomi is delighted that Kiyoi understands that all of human despair is what created him in the first place. He swiftly beats her while she is stunned.
While the drama is going crazy with everyone else, Suzu is leaving Hanna cakes and notes to help her feel better. Swearing that she will get stronger, she begins accepting every battle that comes her way. Hanna seems to be distraught over what she has helped Suzu to become. Perhaps because she is aware of what awaits Suzu once she wins WIXOSS.
Light VS Dark: Kiyoi and Kou fight for reigning supremacy of WIXOSS. It is made very clear that the Book Maker is pure evil who delights in ruining lives. Kiyoi is still a bit of a mystery, but the fact that she takes it upon herself to stop Kou signals she is an antagonist. Or at least she should be. She loses, which leaves Suzuko and Chinatsu still in the game. Will the two forsaken best friends be the combined source of light needed to defeat Kou? Or will only one of them be the hero?
Sexuality: As usual, Kou makes crude remarks to jab at people. When he fights Shou, he teases him about being a virgin, not knowing how to ‘do it,’ and on foreplay. Shou, being innocent and honorable, gets upset when Kou mentions anything about Chinatsu. Kou does the same thing to Kiyoi, thanking her for ‘doing it’ with him. Seems like being sexually active in this series falls under the category of dark evil in the direction that its going.

As I mentioned previously, I’m curious to see what it takes to defeat Satomi. We know that Riru and Meru were charms that were originally separated by Chinatsu and Suzuko as best friend mementos. Perhaps when they are reunited, they will have the driving force to beat Kou. We still have yet to see Chinatsu and Suzuko battle and there be a winner. Maybe they never will battle, but instead join together. We also still don’t know the significance of battles being interrupted by onlookers. Maybe we have a massive battle being set up to be interrupted by one of the two. I speculate that we have some good stuff to look forward to with the final episodes of WIXOSS. See you next week!
