blackangel1122 is nothing but an anime and manga otaku who is also a closet fujoshi. Nice to meet 'cha!
Heya, guys! Sorry for making you wait too long! We are catching up with the latest episode of Haikyuu!! Karasuno Koukou vs Shiratorizawa Gakuen Koukou! now.
If you have been with us for the entire Season 3 journey, then you should already know that this episode is the second-to-the-last episode for this season of our favorite sports anime. That’s why you shouldn’t miss out on watching this episode as not only is this the thrilling climax, it is also an adrenaline-inducing episode which will make you love Haikyuu!! more!
Japanese Original Episode Title: バレー馬鹿たち
Starting off this episode is the return of Karasuno’s Tsukishima back on the court. Remember that he got injured some episodes ago and had to leave the court to get treated. His return gives a feeling of hope, not only to the Karasuno guys, but to us who are tuning in to this season too!
There’s only one more point before Shiratorizawa bags the set. That is why it brings them hope to see Tsukishima back. They just have to stop Shiratorizawa from scoring a point and they have a better chance of winning this fifth set.
The game is still going back and forth, with one team always stopping the other during match point.
In episode 9, the highlights are getting more and more exciting. We are nearing the end of this season, after all. If you haven’t read the manga just yet (the manga is a bit ahead compared to the anime, after all), then you will surely be asking this question over and over: who will win? Here are the episode highlights for this episode that you shouldn’t miss:
Highlight #1: Fighting Till The End
With Tsukishima back on the court, Karasuno is able to increase their blocking power. However, Shiratorizawa isn’t phased at all that this Karasuno freshman returns to the court. In fact, they just diligently stick to their strategy of having Ushijima powerfully spike the ball to the other side of the court.
Tsukishima is able to do a one-touch off of Ushijima’s spike though. At that, Tsukishima surprises himself at the fact that, even though he isn’t anything like Hinata, he wants to fight until the very end.
Highlight #2: A ‘Broad Hit’ Decoy
As Tsukishima is strategically blocking off Ushijima, there is a long rally between Shiratorizawa and Karasuno. Shiratorizawa decides to entrust all of the spike attack to their ace, Ushijima. On the other hand, the Karasuno guys are getting tired, but they don’t want to stop their attack and defense as that will spell defeat for them.
In the last hit that Nishinoya receives, Tanaka, Daichi, and Asahi run up to the net to spike. What is most surprising is that Tsukishima acted like a decoy by going for a broad attack (a first time, definitely!) which lured Tendou and gained enough time for Tanaka to spike the ball over to Shiratorizawa’s court! Karasuno is now at match point!
Highlight #3: Ushijima – the Monster
Ushijima just proves how much of a volleyball monster he is! He doesn’t seem to be stressed or tired at all, despite playing for five sets already. Despite having blockers, he just spikes the ball above the block. Moreover, his mid-air form makes it seem like he is stopping in the air before he spikes. Indeed, he is truly a monster! Moreover, he is a ‘super volleyball idiot’!
Of course, Ushijima is not the only ‘volleyball idiot’ around. Karasuno also has guys who have nothing on their mind but to score a point and win – even if they have to do it by sheer spirit!
Highlight #4: Nishinoya’s Save
And here we have Karasuno’s guardian deity saving the day! When the ball from Shiratorizawa’s attack hits the net and falls short of Daichi’s range, Daichi isn’t able to move as he wants to because his legs are tired. Nishinoya swoops in to save the ball. Even when it goes over the net after that and Shiratorizawa spikes it over again, Nishinoya is able to keep the ball alive, allowing Asahi to spike it and score a point for Karasuno! Nishinoya is definitely Karasuno’s guardian deity!
Highlight #5: The Block Where You Laugh Last
Shirabu uses Ushijima’s existence as Shiratorizawa’s ace as decoy and sends it to another player to spike over. The plan is to burst through the center. However, Tsukishima won’t be deceived by that! He remembers his conversation with Kuroo and Levi from Nekoma about blocking – why it is still valuable to jump at a spike even though you are a bit behind or how the block is all about where you laugh last!
Highlight #6: That Cliffhanger?!
While the game is getting to the thrilling part, we are left with a cliffhanger – Hinata’s form of spiking the ball and a sound of the ball hitting the floor! Just what happened?!
Miyu Irino, Sugawara Koushi’s voice actor, has already announced that he will be on hiatus in 2017 to study abroad. That can either mean that there won’t be a Season 4 for the anime or that someone else would take over his VA role, Karasuno’s vice captain! We obviously want to have a Season 4 but we have come to love Irino-sama’s voice for our beloved Suga! What a pickle!
I am happy that we are now at the climax of the Haikyuu!! Karasuno Koukou vs Shiratorizawa Gakuen Koukou! arc. However, I’m also sad that Haikyuu!! is ending in the next episode. I wish I could already see the next episode so that I’ll know what happens next but I also wish we had a few more before we had to say goodbye! I bet many of you are feeling the same way I do! Let’s stay together until the next episode of Haikyuu!! here in Manga.Tokyo, okay? Don’t forget to read the rest of our reviews as well!
