blackangel1122 is nothing but an anime and manga otaku who is also a closet fujoshi. Nice to meet 'cha!
This week, Blue Exorcist -Kyoto Impure King Arc- (Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-Hen) Episode 3 brings us a bit closer to what had happened before the Exwires came to Kyoto. As the name of the episode suggests, shadows of suspicions cloud everyone’s judgment as they are led to believe one thing or the other. And when there are suspicions lurking at the back of your mind, you don’t know who to trust.
Things are indeed getting serious in this week’s episode…
Japanese Title: 疑心暗鬼
Through everyone’s testimonies, a bit of truth about the reason why there are many injured people resting in Suguro’s family’s inn comes to light. As per the involved individual’s testimony, something unusual happened while they were at the location where the ‘Right Eye of the Impure King’ was sealed. The higher ups believe that such a thing wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t an inside job. That means that there’s a traitor in their midst! While everyone is pointing fingers and trying to figure out who should be blamed and what should be done next, the enemy won’t be waiting in the dark.
With things getting better between Shima and Rin, will the rest of the Exwires be able to put their differences aside and welcome Rin again into the group? Of course, that doesn’t mean that being able to be friends again will make all their current problems disappear. There are still many issues that must be settled with the Myouda Sect, especially with the traitor and all.
Get to know more about what would happen in the third episode of Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen with these episode highlights.
In this part of the episode, Shima greets Rin normally during breakfast and even sits on the same table as him. As Shima’s brothers, Kin and Jouzu, arrive, Shima introduces Rin to them as his friend. The brothers then proceed to sit with them for breakfast. This just goes to show that Shima has already come to terms with Rin being Satan’s son.
That doesn’t mean that Konekomaru won’t object to their interaction. Right after breakfast, he immediately confronts Shima about it. Since Shima already decided that it is more troublesome to avoid Rin, Konekomaru won’t be able to do anything about it.
In the general meeting, it was announced that there’s a traitor in the Myouda Sect. They were able to point out that Toudou was an accomplice, but they weren’t able to point out who the traitor is. All they know is that Mamushi and Jouzu were studying under Toudou when the latter was a professor in the True Cross Order Academy.
Jouzu and Mamushi tried to clear their name, but the suspicions eventually fell into the Head Priest Tatsuma, who is coincidentally absent from this meeting and isn’t able to defend himself.
These two girls are still in an awkward relationship with each other. Kamiki is still a bit hostile to Moriyama, but at least she’s a bit mellow about it. She even asks Moriyama why she’s being restless. Kamiki gives the bawling Moriyama a pep talk.
Now we get to know why Konekomaru is so scared of Rin. Konekomaru’s entire family was wiped out during the Blue Night, after all. Despite being afraid, Konekomaru pleads to Rin to not bring trouble to Suguro and the rest of the Myoda Sect who he thought of as his family. Rin tries to settle Konekomaru’s trauma, but it seems that this isn’t the right time for that just yet. However, Rin doesn’t leave things at that. He promises to Konekomaru that he will do his best in controlling his flame so that he won’t be afraid of him anymore.
Finding out who the traitor is in the Myoda Sect is of utmost importance. So, right now, there are three people who are suspected to be Toudou’s accomplice: Mamushi and Jouzu are two out of the three suspected individuals since they were Toudou’s students back in their True Cross Order Academy days. The third one is Master Tatsuma, who we see at the end of the episode to be in front of the invocation flame and seems to be doing something again. Who among them is the true traitor?
Family tree trivia time for the Kyoto boys! As we all know, Suguro is the only son of the Myouda Sect’s Head Priest. As for Shima, it is revealed in this episode that he is the fifth son, with one of his older brothers dying during the Blue Night. Konekomaru, on the other hand, is the only survivor of his family line and was raised by the Myouda Sect together with Shima and Suguro. Since he is the only one alive in his family line, he is considered to be the family head. That generally makes him the youngest out of the family heads of the Myouda Sect. That can be quite amazing and lonely at the same time, right?
It is in this episode that I’ve realized that the series is now reaching the good part. After all, we now are aware that there is someone among the new characters introduced in the previous episodes who is a traitor. I would hate it if it was Jouzo though. He’s the responsible older brother type who seems to be more of the betrayed type than the betrayer type. I wonder how many Ao no Exorcist fans agree with me?
If you are like me and you watch the preview of the next episode (like our crazy writer Thanasis says: ALWAYS GO POST-CREDITS), then you should already have an idea on what it may be about. Based from the preview and the title, we might be see with our own eye’s who the traitor is and catch him on the act! Also, will Rin and Suguro be fighting?! Watch out for the next episode with me here in MANGA.TOKYO! Don’t forget to check the rest of our episodic anime reviews for Winter 2017. We are covering many exciting titles!
